Silver Award for Druckfarben Group at this year's Environmental Awards
The Druckfarben Group received the Silver Award in the Sustainable Manufacture category at the Environmental Awards, a competitive institution that highlights and rewards best practices and initiatives for environmental protection and sustainability.
The award ceremony, held on September 30 at the Anais Club organized by BOUSSIAS Events, was not coincidental. The consistently sustainable practices of the Group and the environmentally friendly technologies and techniques it employs contribute to protecting the planet and lay the foundations for a cleaner tomorrow, as well as for development that has a positive environmental footprint. Notably, between 2019 and 2023, there was a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per ton of produced product, among many other achievements.
Some indicative and recent accomplishments (from 2022 to present) include:
The upgrade of the compressed air production facilities at the Aspropyrgos factory with new, state-of-the-art compressors, leading to reduced energy consumption.
The replacement of all old lighting fixtures in the industrial buildings and warehouses of the Aspropyrgos Paints factory with new LED-type fixtures, resulting in a 50% reduction in electricity consumption for lighting needs across approximately 27,000 square meters.
The enhancement of the production process of grinding during the production of colored inks with the optimization of the corresponding process and the installation of advanced equipment, yielding significant savings in production time and energy costs (ranging from -30% to -50%).
At the same time, the Group is intensifying its investments in Renewable Energy Sources to reduce the carbon footprint resulting from the operation of production units and to meet most of its electricity needs. Notably, for the factory in Chalkida, only the “green light” from the local electricity distribution network operator (DEDDHE) remains for the commencement of a photovoltaic system with an installed capacity of 400 kW. The cost of this project exceeded 260 thousand euros, and when operational, it will cover 60% of the annual electricity consumption of that factory. Meanwhile, for the Aspropyrgos Paints factory, a similar photovoltaic project with a capacity of 485 kW, budgeted at 285 thousand euros, is nearing completion and will cover all energy needs of the factory.
Additionally, a third photovoltaic project with a capacity of 362 kW and a budget of 200 thousand euros is underway, which is expected to meet 100% of the energy needs of the mortar/plaster factory also located in Aspropyrgos. All three photovoltaic systems have been installed on the roofs of the factories.
The recognition of the Druckfarben Group with the Silver Award underscores the success of its sustainable strategy and the vision of sustainability that permeates every internal process.
